Happy Spring! I think it is safe to say we all are looking forward to nice weather. Hopefully, soon we will see planters in the field and several working in their gardens; we wish for wonderful weather during this time.

FLUSHING HYDRANTS: Mark your calendars. The city will be flushing hydrants on Friday May 12th; please refrain from doing laundry as the water may become discolored.

GARBAGE PICK-UP: Garbage pick-up is on Tuesday’s each resident is allowed two (2) City of Bode bags per week; these bags should be set next to the road in front of your house or next to the alley; we are finding bags next to homes or in the middle of the yard and are unsure if they are meant for disposal.

Please set your garbage out no sooner than Monday evenings; we also require that all bags be tied by utilizing the draw strings.

Please keep your property clean!

MOWING: Just a reminder that grass needs to be kept mowed, if it should reach 6 inches the city may mow and bill you as the owner of the property.

Mowing should also include weed eating, please keep all weeds mowed including areas around your house, trees, and any outside items you may have.

Yard Waste/Property Clean-up

The City will pick up tree branches from your property if needed on Thursdays, these branches need to be cut to a 6-8ft length and piled in the same direction at the end of your property (please make sure they are away from any permanent structure) However, if you do hire a tree service to cut down or trim many trees; they would be responsible to remove the debris from your property.

With Spring here and clean-up days set, please plan on removing any garbage from your property that has blown in and utilize this service that is being provided for you. If we all do our part, we can all take pride in the way our community looks!

BUILDING PERMITS:

This time of the year always brings all those building projects to mind. A building permit is required for ALL permanent structures. Pouring a cement slab or putting up a fence also requires a building permit. Applications are free of charge and available at the Bode City Hall.

CALL BEFORE YOU DIG

Before doing any digging or disturbing of the ground, remember to call Iowa One Call at 1 800-292-8989. This is necessary with all projects, even the planting of trees and bushes. Iowa One Call will notify all necessary utility companies of the impending dig. Within 48 hours each company will come to your property and locate their underground utilities. If you dig before calling Iowa One Call, you are responsible for any damages that may occur.
