The Bode City Council met in regular session Monday November 6th @ 5:30PM in the council chambers. All members were present, absent Mayor Peterson. Mayor Pro-tem Miller called the meeting to order. A motion was made my Tepner, second by Rongved to approve the agenda as posted. All ayes, motion carried. A motion was made by Fulwider, second by Tepner to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as published. All ayes, motion carried.
Mayor Pro-tem Miller gave the City Maintenance report. She informed the council that draw down at the lagoon has begun, also discussed was a requirement from the DNR on water line types entering each residential property. Discussion of ways to have residents inform City Maintenance through a picture. City Clerk will discuss with Todd on possibly having these emailed to bodecitymaintenance@gmail.com. A letter will be delivered to households that the city does not have this information on.
Nuisance properties were discussed, city clerk informed the council that certified letters have been mailed. Following discussion, a motion was made by Fulwider, second by Rongved to gather more information to proceed with the clean-up of the properties in question. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Tepner, second by Fulwider to approve Dorsey & Whitney to continue to assist the city with the bid letting process for the sanitary sewer project. This company will review the engineer’s materials for compliance with Iowa law, and provide necessary resolutions to the city throughout the process. The cost for this is typically $5000. All ayes, motion carried.
Tom Madden, the cities engineer was not able to attend the council meeting, he had requested that the city hold a special meeting to continue with the process on the sanitary sewer project. City Clerk directed to contact him and schedule a special meeting when he is available.
A motion was made by Rongved, second by Hasfjord to approve the Recycling Contract with Bennett Recycling. This contract will extend for one (1) year at the same cost of $400 monthly. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Fulwider, second by Rongved to approve the State of Iowa 2023 Financial Report for Bode. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Tepner, second by Rongved to approve Resolution #2023-05 “A Resolution Approving the Street Finance Report for fiscal year 2022-2023.” Roll call: Rongved, Fulwider, Hasfjord, and Tepner all voting aye. Nays: None
A motion was made by Tepner, second by Rongved to approve a building permit at 200 Christiana Ave for a 76X37 fence. All ayes, motion carried.
