The Bode City Council met in regular session June 5, 2023 in the council chambers. Council members Hasfjord, Rongved, Miller, and Tepner were present; absent Fulwider. Mayor Peterson called the meeting to order. A motion was made by Miller, second by Tepner to approve the agenda as posted. All ayes, motion carried. A motion was made by Rongved, second by Tepner to approve the minutes of the previous meetings as published, with the correction on May 22nd minutes to Mayor Peterson instead of Mayor Miller. All ayes, motion carried.
Tom Madden, was present to update on the Cities Sewer project. He updated the council on the Wastewater Project Permitting Process. The intended Use Plan has been completed and is included in a data base; this is essential for future funding. The Planning and Design Loan application is complete, the loan request being 79,000 this includes Administration cost, engineering cost, and environmental studies. This application is a 3year, 0% interest loan. Following discussion, a motion was made by Miller, second by Tepner to approve this application. All ayes, motion carried.
Todd McMahon, City Maintenance reported that the Fire Hydrant, near the water tower, has been installed along with three curb stops repaired by McPeak Trenching, also Central Tank Coatings has finished the exterior paint at the water tower.
A motion was made by Rongved, second by Miller to approve the building permit for footings for new steps at 405 Christiana Ave. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Tepner, second by Miller to approve a building permit to erect a wooden fence at 304 College Ave. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Miller, second by Rongved to approve a 20x20 deck at 613 6th Street. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Tepner, second by Rongved to approve a one-year contract for Sanitary Landfill Services with the City of Spencer. This contract includes a 2% increase on solid waste and runs July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024. All ayes, motion carried.
Nuisance Properties were discussed, Mayor Peterson directed every council member to compile a list of properties they consider nuisances. These lists are to be brought to the July Council meeting and reviewed at that time.
City Employee evaluation was discussed; a motion was made by Tepner, second by Miller to approve a 6% rate increase for Todd McMahon from 25.54 to 27.07 per hour, Becky Struthers from 21.21 to 22.48 per hour, and Jeff Wheeler from 15.22 to 16.13 an hour effective July 1. All ayes. Motion carried.
Discussion was made on changing council pay from $20 to $30 per meeting and Mayor from $125 tp $150 per month, staggered terms was also discussed.
