The Bode City Council met in regular session June 7th at 5:30PM in the council chambers. All members were present, Also, present Geri Wheeler and Jenny Johnson. Mayor Miller called the meeting to order, a moment of silence was held for Councilmember Mark Dale. Mark passed away unexpectedly on May 11th; he had served on the City Council since 2007. Mark will be truly missed.
A motion was made by Douglas, second by Tepner to approve the agenda as posted. All ayes, motion carried. A motion was made by Peterson, second by Douglas to approve the minutes from the May 3rd and 24th Council meetings. All ayes, motion carried.
Geri approached the council with concern of dogs running within the city limits, following discussion; council member Tepner reiterated that all dog complaints need to be directed to the Humboldt County Sheriffs office, he also stated that the Sheriff’s office is working on a dog catcher for these issues.
Todd McMahon, city maintenance informed the council that the pavement doctor was in town and completed repairs on 1st street, he will be back to do more work on our streets. Todd also directed to receive a quote on the cost to repair an area on 1st street and Humboldt Ave. He informed the council that draw down at the lagoon is complete and the sewer intake by the library has been repaired.
Mower quotes were received, following review a motion was made by Fulwider, second by Tepner to approve the quote from J&A Outdoor Equipment for a 2020 Exmark Lazer Z E-Series, the city will pay $5499 with a trade in of our 2015 Ferris model. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Peterson, second by Douglas to approve a building permit at 205 1st street for a 12x14 storage shed. All ayes, motion carried.
Mayor Miller has complied a list of nuisance properties, these letters will be sent out to everyone that is not in compliance with the Cities Code of Ordinances. City Clerk will send out certified letters.
A motion was made by Douglas, second by Peterson to approve the closing of 1st street (between Humboldt Ave and Rossing Ave) on the afternoon of June 11th for Norm’s General Stores “Customers Appreciation Day”. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Douglas, second by Peterson to approve the band “People Like You” to set up in the Bode Park on June 19th from 7-10PM. Everyone is welcomed, they request that you bring your own chair. All ayes, motion carried.
City Employees were evaluated, a motion was made by Fulwider, second by Peterson to approve the following wages: Becky Struthers from 19.10 to 20.60 (23 years of employment) Todd McMahon from 23.30 to 24.80 (14 years of employment) Jeff Wheeler from 12.85 to 14.78 (8 years of employment). All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Peterson, second by Douglas to set the next regular meeting as July 12th (due to the 4th of July Holiday) All ayes, motion carried.
