The
Bode City Council met in regular session Monday January 6, 2020 at 5:30pm in
the council chambers. All members were present, also present was Wes Boyer with
Bolton & Menk. A motion was made by Douglas, second by Peterson to approve
the agenda as posted. A motion was made
by Dale, second by Peterson to approve the minutes of the December 2nd council
meetings as published. All ayes, motion carried.
Mayor
Miller opened the meeting; council members Fulwider, Douglas, Tepner, and
Peterson including Mayor Miller were sworn in during the December 2nd
council meeting. Council member Dale was sworn in December 26th.
Wes
Boyer, an Engineer with Bolton and Mink, addressed the council regarding a
Planning & Design Loan Application, this would be the start of several
steps to improve infiltration to our sanitary sewer system. Wes handed out an
overview of the process to begin seeking improvements. Following discussion, a
motion was made by Tepner, second by Dale to begin the process of completing
this application. All ayes, motion carried.
Mayor
Miller appointed Jess Tepner as mayor pro-tem; other yearly appointments are as
follows: Brett Legvold with Arends, Lee, Emick & Legvold
Offices-City Attorney;
Newspaper-Humboldt Independent, Fire Chief-Mark Spaulding, Health
Officer-Kossuth Regional Medical Center, Bank-West Iowa Bank (Resolution #
2020-1), City Clerk-Becky Struthers, City Maintenance-Todd McMahon. Robert
Douglas will serve on the 911 board.
A
letter from the Humboldt County Animal Shelter was reviewed, the letter stated
the county would match the community’s annual donations. Following review of
the letter a motion was made by Dale, second by Peterson to approve a $500
donation to the shelter for this fiscal year. The city will review future
donations on a yearly basis. All ayes, motion carried.
Todd
McMahon, City Maintenance, reported that he had contacted the manufacturer of
the water meters Dakota City currently is exchanging out. According to his
findings these meters should be available to purchase parts for or should be
available to purchase new in the future. Following discussion, a motion was
made by Douglas, second by Peterson to purchase 14 new meters and 27 gently
used meters from Dakota City for approximately $2000. All ayes, motion carried.
