The Bode City Council met in regular session Monday December 2, 2019 at 5:30PM in the council chambers. All members were present, also present Paula Fulwider. Mayor Miller called the meeting to order, a motion was made by Douglas, second by Peterson to approve the agenda as posted. All ayes, motion carried. A motion was made by Dale, second by Rongved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as published. All ayes, motion carried.
City Maintenance, Todd McMahon, reported that draw down is complete, he stated he had contacted blacktop service on an area on 6th street that they had milled and replaced. He also stated that Dakota City is replacing their what meters, and currently had a few new ones and also some gently used ones that they had previous acquired. These meters also had a touch reader. Following discussion, it was recommended that Todd contact the company that manufactures the meters to find out if we would purchase some from Dakota City will these meters become obsolete in the near future. This item is tabled until further information is obtained.
Bolton & Menk (an engineer firm located in Algona) delivered information on a planning & Design Application. This application provides communities Financial Assistance for planning & design phases of water and sewer improvements for the community served. Following discussion, a motion was made by Tepner, second by Rongved to request the engineer be present at the January Council meeting to further explain the process of sewer improvements and financial assistance for the program. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Dale, second by Rongved to donate $250 to Upper Des Moines Opportunity, this program helps several residents within our community. All ayes, motion carried.
The shed sitting on the West End of 1st street will be moved by the city; notice has been given to the owner stating the shed is obstructing a public road.
Public Nuisance Properties were discussed; currently the city has approved Krug Construction to remove the property located at 501 1st street. The city has been working with Malloy Law Services to abate two properties, the nuisance at 101 Rossing Ave still has not seen any improvements or movements for the city to acquire that property. Following discussion on this issue; a motion was made by Peterson, second by Tepner to sever all ties with Malloy Law Services, a letter will be written and the city will continue to find a new attorney to represent the City of Bode in regards to this nuisance property. All ayes, motion carried.
A motion was made by Dale, second by Douglas to set the next meeting as January 7th @ 5:30PM.
