The
Bode City Council met in regular session Monday February 5, 2018 at 6PM in the
council chambers. Council members Dale, Douglas, Peterson, and Rongved were
present; absent Tepner. Mayor Miller
called the meeting to order; a motion was made by Douglas, second by Dale to approve the agenda as posted. A motion was made by Dale,
second by Rongved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as published.
The
council reviewed an e-mail correspondence from the property owner at 206
Christiana Ave; the city had sent out nuisance letters in October and this
property was mowed by the city in November; A fee of $100 was billed to the
property owner. The property owner had requested that the fee be removed,
following review a motion was made by Rongved, second by Peterson to deny the
request to remove this fee. All ayes, motion carried.
A
motion was made by Douglas, second by Dale to approve the proposal from Site
Services in the amount of $1250 for Asbestos removal located at 107 Humboldt
Ave. All ayes motion carried.
A
motion was made by Douglas, second by Rongved to approve the proposal for
demolition of the building located at 107 Humboldt Ave to Krug Construction in
the amount of 8165, this fee includes demolition, removal, and dirt filled
following the removal. All ayes, motion carried. The city is trying to gather
cost to apply for funding through the Iowa DNR on demolition of commercial
buildings.
The
council reviewed changes pertaining to Solid Waste Collections and Control, a
copy of the proposed Ordinance is available at the Bode City Hall.
A public Hearing will be set for March 5th
@ 6:15 to review the changes:
AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BODE,
IOWA BY AMENDING PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO SOLID WASTE CONTROL AND COLLECTION
A motion was made by Dale, second by Peterson to approve the funding request from Upper Des Moines Opportunities in the amount of 250. All ayes, motion carried.
A
motion was made by Douglas, second by Peterson to approve the proposed 2018-19 City
Budget and set Public Hearing as March 5th @ 6:30PM. All ayes, motion carried.
A
motion was made by Dale, second by Douglas to approve a Class C Beer permit
with Sunday Sales to Norm’s General Store. All ayes motion carried.
A motion was made by Douglas,
second by Dale to approve a 5-day Liquor License including Sunday Sales to the
Bode Fire Department for their fun night which will be held April 7th
in the Bode Community Center. All ayes, motion carried.
The council reviewed a
letter from the Bonnie Christianson family in regards to a 5 year forgivable
loan for the CDBG Housing grant. Bonnie was awarded this program and had the
all of the work completed in the fall of 2017. Bonnie had passed away in
January. Due to the circumstance a motion was made by Rongved, second by
Peterson to forgive the loan at 600 Humboldt Ave. All ayes motion carried. City
Clerk will contact Midas Council of Government for a release of mortgage on
this property.
